1. If you have curls, work with them using Aveda's Be Curly range to reduce frizz. Smooth product through the hair using your fingers (never a brush), then allow it to dry naturally in the sun. Blow-drying and the heat styling are frizz magnets so go for the natura approach as often as you can.
2. No matter how well behaved your fringe normally is, when your swimming or sunbathing it'll end up sticking up all over the show. So what's the best solution? A hat, headscarf or hairband - dont't get on the plane without them.
3. A little bit of sun is great to lightening up your colour, but too much can be very damaging, so invest in Aveda's UV hair protection range consisting of a great Shampoo, which also removes a build up of chlorine, intensive hair treatment and sunspray to apply before sun exposure, also a great product to protect your scalp.
4. Fine or oily hair will really benefit from sea salt as it's drying and volumising at the same time. If you've been to the beach, leave your hair to dry naturally without shampooing or conditioning it and try scrunching the ends in your hands every few minutes to encourage beachy waves.
5. If you have your hair highlighted, why not go a shade darker than you normally would? The sun will then lighten it, meaning you'll get that lovely sunkissed look without having to use too much bleach.
6. If your hair is particularly dry, you'll need to put lots of moisture back into it.So unless you want to totally ruin your hair I strongly recommend Aveda's Damage Remedy range, its fantastic at repairing damage to your hair.
7. To help prevent colour fading, always rinse your hair with fresh water before swimming. If your hair is already wet it'll absorb less salty or chlorinated water.
8. One last point, but very important point - get your hair cut before you go on holiday. Hair that's freshly cut will be in its best state possible, so it'll be able to cope with the elements much better.
