What is a Master Colour Expert?
Being a Master Colour Expert means that I am one of Wella’s UK and Ireland’s top professional hair colourists. Partners Hair and Beauty is one of only 1200 hairdressers in the UK and Ireland to be given this enviable award.
How did you get on the Master Colour Program?
My bosses Pauline and Laurie gave me this fantastic opportunity because I have always had a passion for colour. I am always willing to learn new things. Therefore, this program was ideal for me to broaden my knowledge and increase my confidence in all aspects of colouring.
What benefits does it bring to the salon?
This accolade helps make the salon one of the most sought after and in demand in the area. I have also been fortunate enough to pass my knowledge onto my colleagues through further training sessions in the salon. This is a great thing to do because it boosts team morale and keeps spirits high, knowing that we are all there to support and learn from one another.
What did you enjoy most about the program?
I really enjoyed meeting new people and becoming part of the Wella team. Wella had guest artists show us some of their techniques and share their skills and knowledge with us. It helped me to gain confidence, knowing that everyone faced similar challenges when it came to colouring hair in salon. It taught me to be realistic about what I can offer my colour clients. Not every colour can be achieved instantly, it’s sometimes a journey.
What’s next for you?
I am entering Wella Trend Vision this year. It’s a dynamic industry competition which showcases a fusion of hair, fashion and creativity. I will be mentored throughout the whole competition and get top tips from the industry experts. I am entering the Colour Vision category this year as I feel the Master Colour Program has really given me the confidence I needed to do so. The first stage is submitting a photographic entry, which could potentially lead to showcasing my model in London. It’s all very exciting as I have never done anything like this before.
What attracted you to Wella as a brand?
Wella have been around for over 130 years. They always deliver innovations and services that enable us to be extremely creative. Since becoming a Wella salon, we have had massive amounts of training and the support network is incredible. I love working with Wella colour as the possibilities are endless. They have such a vast range of colour collections that there is always something to suit everyone.
What is the hot trend at the moment?
Colour contouring. It’s all about choosing colours to compliment your skin tone and face shape. Clever placements of colour can create deception of light and shade. Hairdressing has definitely been taken to the next level and the possibilities are endless!
