Pauline's love-affair with hairdressing started out in a Dundee salon, where she met business partner and lifelong friend Laurie. She moved away from hairdressing for several years, working in sales and retail but always knew that she wanted to own her own salon. Pauline loves the business she works in and says that she enjoys the involvement with clients, the different people and personalities. "I love seeing a nervous guest coming in and then seeing them walking out looking and feeling great," she says. "I am fortunate to do a job I really enjoy and get paid to do it. She is proud of the team that she and Laurie have built up at Partners and enjoys making them into fantastic hairdressers. She loves socialising with the staff outside work and has brought them on team-building exercises including everything from hiking to gorge-walking. Away from the salon, Pauline describes herself as a keen outdoor girl who loves life and spending time with her family friends and especially her son, Flynn. She is delighted that he has inherited her love of the great outdoors and they spend time hill walking and cycling together. Pauline broke her leg in a snowboarding accident this winter but is itching to get back to work and hopes to be back at the salon in the near future.

Laurie is passionate about cutting hair, and has been styling, cutting and colouring hair for clients for 25 years. She worked in the Dundee salon where she met Pauline for 13 years and left 12 years ago to set up Partners with Pauline. Like her business partner, she finds it hard to think of anything that she doesn't like about her job. "I love everything about it," she says, "I love being creative, and I love listening to people's problems!" In particular, Laurie enjoys the bond that she builds up with her guests, some of whom have been coming to her to get their hair cut and coloured for 20 years. She is proud of the friendly, unpretentious atmosphere that she and Pauline have created at Partners and the fact that people don't feel intimidated when they come into the salon. When she isn't transforming her clients' hair, Laurie loves going out and socialising with family and friends. She loves staying active, and particularly enjoys snowboarding.

Jeni has been with Partners for 11 years and is responsible for seeing to the day to day running of the salon, as well as cutting and colouring hair. An expert in working with the beautiful natural Aveda products used at Partners, Jeni is responsible for implementing much of the Aveda training that is carried out each Tuesday afternoon in the salon. She loves cutting gents hair in particular, and describes herself as a bit of a tomboy, saying that her ability to, "chat about beer and footie" make her an ideal gents stylist! She really enjoys being part of the team and blethering with the other staff, who is says are all great to work with. When she gets some time off, Jeni enjoys socialising and watching football.

Stevie has been with partners for nearly five years and has done all her training through the salon. A real all-rounder, she loves cutting and colouring hair and doing a bit of everything. "I love everybody that I work with - there is a great atmosphere at Partners," she says. Stevie enjoys meeting new people and learning from the more experienced members of staff. Away from work, Stevie loves going out at the weekends, either to celebrate or drown her sorrows depending on how Dundee Utd have performed that week!

Donnalee has been at Partners for just over three years. She had trained at college and worked in other salons before she made the decision to come to Partners to start doing things, "the Aveda way!" She retrained according to the Aveda approach to cutting and customising colour to each guest. "I love cut and colour," she says, "and I like to be taken out of my comfort zone." Donnalee loves being able to watch people like Pauline and Laurie and is learning from them all the time. Away from the salon, Donnalee likes spending money she doesn't have especially on shoes and handbags and regularly travels to London to visit her boyfriend.

This is Claire's first job in hairdressing. She has been at Partners for three years and has done all her training at the salon. She has wanted to be a hairdresser since she was five and luckily there is nothing that she doesn't like about it so far! Claire loves making people feel great about themselves. "I like when someone comes in and says 'do what you want!'" she explains. She believes that she has had the best possible training at Partners and loves creative colours and restyles and the drama of making a difference to the way people look. Out of work, Claire loves going to the gym and going out in Dundee, describing herself as a party animal!

Alice has worked at Partners for two and a half years, and she offers a full range of beauty treatments including facials and massages. She feels that as a beautician it is very important to be happy with the products that you are using and loves the natural ingredients that Aveda use. She is also proud of the sustainable message that the company promotes, "they put money back into the community," she says, "They go a little bit further than anyone else." The only thing she doesn't like about Partners is when the hairdressers come through and mess up her area! Outside work, Alice loves shopping and nights out, has just taken up ice-skating again and also enjoys fishing.
